What are FAQ's?
Frequently asked questions
Is hand crafted goat milk soap long lasting?
Our soap does not contain the man-made hardeners that factory/mass made soaps contain, however, we find our soaps to be long lasting. The main key is to keep the soap dry when not in use, meaning, do not allow it to sit in a puddle of water. Many of our customers have commented that even when they get the bars down to the last sliver, when it is almost translucent, it keeps on lasting!
What is the shelf-life of your soap?
Our soaps will last for years. A fading of the scent of a soap that contains fragrance oil may be noticed after it ages (6 months to a year). Essential oils actually have properties that preserve soap, making both the scent and the soap very long lasting. The skin loving acids (close to the PH of natural skin) in goat milk soap also help to preserve the shelf life of the soap.
What colorants are used in your soaps?
First, many of our colorants are all natural (herbal, complexion clay). Some essential oils promote their own color network, such as lemongrass (yellow). Wonderful complexion clays, even when added in lesser quantities, promote beautiful rose, green, and golden hues. If we use colorants, such as pigments, the ingredients will state so. Many pigments are natural as well. We occasionally use ultramarines and state so in the product description. Ultramarines are man-made.
What process do you use when making your soap?
Why is this bar of soap slightly different in color than the last bar that I purchased?
Our soap is made from natural based products (unless otherwise noted in a product description). For this reason, colors may vary from batch to batch.
Some of the bars of soap that I purchased seem larger than others, why?
We hand cut each bar. Even though we use a guide during our cutting process, there can be variances. Before each bar of soap is boxed and shipped to a customer, it is individually weighed to ensure it is at least 4.0. Humidity levels during the curing process can lead to more, and sometimes less, shrinkage. Soaps are cut at an average weight of 4.5 ounces.
Do you provide samples?
Yes, if we have samples on hand we try to ship a free sample with each order. Sometimes samples are available when there is a thin "end" piece (a remnant) remaining from the original batch. If you would like a sample of a particular product, contact us, and we will try to ship a sample along with your order. We generally do not send samples without a purchase, but contact us to see if we can provide one.
Do you special order a certain fragrance or type of soap?
Yes, depending upon the fragrance and type of soap, we will provide certain types of soap for our customers. Generally we ask for an 8 bar order limit. Orders of this type must be placed in advance to allow for curing and shipment. Please contact us with any special requests. We love to hear from our customers, and welcome all of our new product ideas!
